CHAN Ting (she/they, b. 1993, Hong Kong) is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, image, installation and sound. Her works have exhibited and been collected both nationally and internationally including Hong Kong, China, France, Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland. Her pieces are held in the Akeroyd Collection and Vancouver Art Gallery.

Her practice begins as conservation: discarded or rejected objects from public sites or domestic residences are salvaged and brought back to her studio for restoration. Drawing on her background as a hypnotherapist and energy healer, she then communes with these objects through a meditative process of addition and subtraction - applying layers of plaster and pigment that are subsequently sanded and drilled away with heavy industrial tools.

Formally, her expanded paintings and sculptural objects engage directly with the artist’s environs. In hand-blending plasters, industrial pigments, and waxy oil pastels, she also folds in the air, smell, and temperature of places such as Hong Kong and its movements of people. This results in an image that is both a palimpsest and landscape portrait, at once a reference to the contemporary conditions of place and a psychological study of society, memory, migration, and change.

A self-described wanderer, CHAN explores relationships between people, cities and nature. Her practice navigates both mundane and extraordinary urban elements, incorporating found objects and readymade materials to examine the psychic fabric of contemporary life. This process often emerges from stream-of-consciousness explorations, particularly focusing on poetic dialogues between image and sound.

Her ongoing chromatic research investigates green as a cultural phenomenon - tracing its evolution from military applications (particularly WWII camouflage technologies) to contemporary urban contexts. This interdisciplinary study examines: the migration of military-grade pigments into civilian architecture; moss as biological colonizer of post-industrial cities; and green sculptural forms as metaphorical "skin" or “screen” in anthropogenic environments. Her work reveals how this historically charged color mediates our evolving relationship with nature in the Anthropocene era.

She has participated in artist residency at Para Site (HK), and Foo Tak Building (HK), being co-founder and artist-curator of the independent artist-run space  Negative Space (2019–2022).
